Man arrested after attempting to flee police serving warrant in Washington Township, Morris County

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A man is in custody after attempting to flee police who were serving a warrant Tuesday afternoon.

On July 19, at around 5:30 p.m., the Morris County Sheriff’s Department attempted to serve an arrest warrant on an individual at Totten Farm, located on Naughright Road, police said.

The man then fled the scene on foot into the surrounding fields and woods, police said.

Washington Township Police responded to assist, and after setting a perimeter and checking the area, officers located the suspect hiding in the brush along a hedgerow. He was taken into custody and turned over to the sheriff officers, police said.

The man, whose identity was not released, was lodged in the Morris County Jail, police said.

“At no point was the public at risk as he was contained in the wooded and field areas at all times,” police said,

Assisting in the search were additional Morris County Officers with their K-9 and their drone.
