Man arrested after breaking into jewelry store, resisting arrest in Hunterdon County

FLEMINGTON BOROUGH, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Police have charged a Whitehouse Station man after allegedly breaking into a jewelry store and then resisted arrest Monday afternoon in Flemington Borough, police said.

On September 13, at around 12:38 p.m., police were dispatched to Saunders Jeweler’s for a burglary in progress. Responding officers were provided with a description of the man who was exiting out of the broken window, police said.

Officers arrived within two minutes and were directed by bystanders to a man matching the description attempting to cross Route 202 South. Daniel Malinowski, 30, was taken into custody at 12:43 p.m. after a brief struggle, police said.

An article search for possible stolen items was conducted of the area by Patrolman Gregory Zytko with the help of K9 Jax which had negative results, police said.

Malinowski was charged with criminal mischief, burglary, and resisting arrest. He as then lodged at the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office, police said.
