FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – A man was arrest after a stabbing incident in Franklin Borough that injured another man.
Bryan Schmidt, 43, of Vernon Township, was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, disorderly conduct, and local ordinance violations.
On July 30, Schmidt is alleged to have been intoxicated and initiated a fight in the roadway on Mitchell Avenue with another male. During the fight, Schmidt was observed by a witness to draw a knife and stab the other male, at which time the witness called 9-1-1, police said.
Schmidt was quickly located and apprehended nearby, police said.
The victim was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries and was not hospitalized following the incident, police said.
Schmidt was released on a summons to the care of an area hospital pending his court appearance in Sussex County Superior Court in accordance with the NJ Bail Reform Act, police said.
