
Man arrested following animal abuse investigation in Warren County
BLAIRSTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County man was arrested following an animal abuse investigation in Blairstown Township, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office said Friday.
On Nov. 29, 2022 the Animal Control Officer contacted Blairstown Police in reference to possible animal abuse and neglect at a residence on Dean Road, authorities said.
The Blairstown Police Humane Law Enforcement Officer responded to the address and allegedly found multiple animal abuse violations, prosecutor’s office said.
These violations included deceased livestock on the property or inside the pasture; an adult cow who was nonambulatory; the flooring of the barn was entirely covered with manure and mud with no dry bedding; multiple objects in the barn and pasture that could cause injury to the livestock and multiple visits to the farm showed no water or access to water for the cows, horses, and goats, authorities said.
Ryan Whitmore, 37, of Blairstown Township was charged with two counts of third-degree failure to provide a living animal or creature with the necessary care, four counts of fourth-degree failure to provide a living animal or creature with the necessary care, and ten counts of disorderly persons offense failure to provide a living animal or creature with the necessary care.
Whitmore was released pending a court appearance.
The investigation was conducted by the Blairstown Police Department, Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Office of the Attorney General.
