Man arrested in Morris County for allegedly possessing child pornography

BOONTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man has been arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography in Boonton Township, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.

Jeff A. Fernandez, 25, of Boonton Township has been charged with one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child (possession of child Sex abuse material (CSAM).

The investigation began with a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) referencing video and image files allegedly depicting the sexual exploitation or abuse of minors. Based on the CyberTip, investigators identified Fernandez as a suspect, and determined that he allegedly possessed over 1,000 items of CSAM on an electronic device, Carroll said.

Fernandez was arrested on Aug. 15 and following his arrest, he was released pursuant to the Criminal Justice Reform Act with pretrial release conditions that include monitoring and limited internet usage, Carroll said.

The Boonton Township Police Department, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the New Jersey State Police, and Homeland Security Investigations assisted in the investigation.
