Man burned while starting fireplace in Hunterdon County

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A man was burned Saturday evening while trying to start his fireplace in Clinton Township, police said.

Emergency crews responded to the 1300 block of Route 31 at around 5:30 p.m. for a report of a person with burns to the lower abdomen area.

According to police, the 76-year-old man was ripping cardboard and trying to start the fireplace in his living room, when the fire burnt his lower abdomen area.

The man was flown to St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, where his current condition is unknown.
