
Man charged in Phillipsburg armed robbery
PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (Warren County) – A Phillipsburg man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Phillipsburg on Thursday, Warren County Prosecutor James Pfeiffer said.
On Aug. 13, at 2:12 p.m., Phillipsburg police responded to the 100 block of South Main St. for a reported armed robbery that had just occurred at a local business. Officers learned that the juvenile victim had been threatened with a handgun and the suspect obtained US Currency from the victim, Pfeiffer said.
During the investigation, William A. Wilson was identified as the suspect and a handgun was recovered consistent with the description provided by the juvenile victim, Pfeiffer said.
A search warrant was obtained and executed for Wilson’s residence where other items relevant to the investigation were recovered, Pfeiffer said.
Wilson has been charged with first-degree armed robbery, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and a disorderly persons offense of theft, Pfeiffer said.
Wilson is currently lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility awaiting a detention motion which has been filed by the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, Pfeiffer said
