Man charged with DWI after hitting parked car in Hackettstown

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County man was charged with driving while intoxicated after hitting a parked car earlier this month in Hackettstown, police said.

On Thursday, Jan. 5, at around 5:15 p.m., police responded to Municipal Lot#1, located at 115 High St, for a report of a motor vehicle crash, police said.

Through a police investigation, it was determined that Miguel Ramos-Portillo, 48, of Hackettstown was backing out of a parking spot when his Ford truck struck a Hyundai that was parked in a parking spot, police said.

While the officer was speaking to Ramos-Portillo, the officer allegedly detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage, police said.

No injuries were reported, police said.

Ramos-Portillo was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, reckless driving and failure to possess an insurance card. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
