
Man charged with DWI after hitting parked car in Morris County
DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man was charged with driving while intoxicated after hitting a parked car Sunday in Denville Township, police said.
On August 21, police responded to the parking lot of 19 Savage Road on a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a parked vehicle.
Upon arrival on scene, officers identified the driver of the involved vehicle as James J. Dermody, 71, of Denville Township, police said.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Dermody was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.
Dermody was arrested and charged with refusal to submit breath testing, DWI, carless driving, driving/parking unregistered motor vehicle, consume alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle, open container in motor vehicle, reckless driving, leaving the scene of accident with property damage, consent to take samples of breath, and failure to report motor vehicle accident.
Dermody was released to a sober adult pending a court appearance, police said.
