Man charged with DWI following crash in Hackettstown
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A man was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge Monday evening following a crash in Hackettstown, according to police.
On April 4, at around 5:54 p.m., police responded to West Stiger Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash, police said.
Through a police investigation, it was determined that a Mazda CX9, driven by Jose S. Romero-Flores, 47, of Mansfield Township, was making a left hand turn onto West Stiger Street from the parking lot of 80 Main Street when his vehicle struck a Ford Econoline van, driven by a 27-year-old Washington Township (Warren County) man, that was traveling southbound on West Stiger Street. Romero-Flores’s vehicle then struck a No Stopping or Standing sign, police said.
While the officer was speaking to Romero-Flores, the officer detected the odor of alcoholic beverage, police said.
No injuries were reported, police said.
Romero-Flores was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, and driving without a driver’s license. He was released to a family member pending a court appearance.
