Man charged with DWI, open container in Sussex County

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A man is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle in Byram Township, according to police.

On Dec. 11, an officer observed a vehicle speeding on Route 206 and also observed the vehicle to have an inoperable tail light, and brake light and while driving behind the vehicle, the vehicle crossed over the double yellow line, police said.

The officer then stopped the vehicle and while speaking to the driver, who was identified as Austin A. Lebo of Byram Township, the officer felt Lebo may be intoxicated, police said.

Lebo performed several field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was then arrested and transported to the police station where he consented to and failed two breath tests, police said.

Lebo was charged with driving while intoxicated, open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to keep right, speeding, maintenance of lamps, and unregistered vehicle. He was then released to a family member pending a court appearance, police said.
