MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Passaic County man was taken into custody Saturday night after a large-capacity ammunition magazine and marijuana were allegedly found during a traffic stop in Mount Olive Township.
Anthony R. Williams, 29, of Clifton was charged with possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, uninsured motor vehicle, failure to signal a lane change, failure to exhibit insurance card, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.
On June 8, at 9:59 p.m, a township officer was patrolling on Route 46 West when he observed a red sedan in front of him travelling erratically, police said.
The driver, who was later identified as Williams, made several abrupt lane changes without signaling. The officer then stopped the vehicle on Cornell Street, police said.
The officer came in contact with Williams and immediately detected an odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, police said.
During the course of the investigation, a search was conducted and a large capacity ammunition magazine, a container and a plastic bag containing suspected raw marijuana were located, police said.
Upon completion of the investigation, Williams was arrested and transported to headquarters. He was released pending a court hearing.
