Man charged with theft, possession of stolen property in Mount Olive Township

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A New York Man is facing theft and possession of stolen property charges in Mount Olive Township after he was allegedly in possession of stolen merchandise that was fraudulently purchased, according to police.

On Feb. 24, an officer was on patrol in the International Trade Zone, located in the Flanders section of the township, when the officer observed a white van with no mounted vehicle registration and a rear brake light not working. The vehicle matched the description related to police information involving another town, police said.

After a brief investigation, the officer determined that the driver, who was identified as Miguel Bautista, 28, of the Bronx, was in possession of stolen merchandise that was fraudulently purchased, police said.

Bautista was charged with theft by deception, possession of stolen property, unlicensed driver, fictitious plates, improper display of plates, maintenance of lamps, failure to possess vehicle registration and failure to possess an insurance card. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
