
Man faces arson, weapon charges in Washington Borough
WASHINGTON BOROUGH, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County man is facing charges including arson for allegedly starting a fire on the front porch of a home in Washington Borough Monday afternoon.
Christopher Ayala, 33, of Washington was charged with arson, criminal mischeif and person not to possess a weapon (knife), police said.
On April 13, at 3:55 p.m., Washington Township police responded to a residence on Broad Street for a report of a person that had reportedly started a fire on the front porch of a home, police said.
Ayala was subsequently arrested and charged. He was lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility.
Broad Street was closed for about 15 minutes while Washington Borough and Washington Township fire departments extinguished the fire, police said.
The fire was contained to the front porch and the incident remains under investigation, police said.
