
Man faces drug charges after Morris County traffic stop, police say
DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Newark man was accused of possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on Route 46 last week, according to the Denville Township Police Department.
Kazir Stokes, 23, of Newark, was stopped around 12:15 p.m. on Nov. 28 after officers observed a brake light violation and that he was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.
During the stop, officers found Stokes in possession of nitrous oxide canisters, psilocybin mushrooms and drug paraphernalia. He was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing, according police.
Stokes was charged with inhaling the fumes of a toxic chemical to cause intoxication; possession of psilocybin mushrooms; and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued motor-vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps, operating a vehicle while in possession of narcotics and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Stokes was released pending a future appearance in Denville Municipal Court.
