Man found dead lying on ground in Dover, police investigating

DOVER, NJ (Morris County) – Police are investigating after a man’s body was found on the ground in Dover early Monday morning, according to Dover Police Chief Jonathan Delaney.

On Oct. 2, at around 5:21 a.m., police and the Dover Fire Department responded to the area of South Morris Street and Boonton Street for a report of a man laying on the ground, Delaney said.

Upon arrival, they found the man unresponsive and he was later pronounced dead, Delaney said.

The investigation into natural causes is currently in progress by the Dover Detective Bureau, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office, Delaney said.

“The Dover Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family for their loss. At this time, no further information will be released out of respect for the family’s privacy,” Delaney said.
