Man found sleeping in car in Byram Township lands drug charges

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Morris County man landed drug charges last week after he was found sleeping in a car in Byram Township.

On November 5, police responded to a report of a possible intoxicated man in a vehicle in the ShopRite parking lot. When officers arrived, they found the driver, who was identified as Louis J. Sloane of Landing in the driver’s seat and he appeared to be asleep, police said.

The officers then woke Sloane up and while speaking to him, the officers felt he may be intoxicated and discovered that he was in possession of a quantity of heroin, police said.

Sloane was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was released pending a court appearance.
