Man found slumped over wheel charged with DWI in Readington Twp

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Somerset County man is facing charges including DWI after he was allegedly found slumped over his steering wheel Wednesday night in Readington Township.

On May 13, at around 10:58 p.m., police responded to the Farm at Readington for a suspicious man in the parking lot. Upon arriving, an officer located the him in a vehicle slumped over his steering wheel, police said.

Upon the officer’s contact with the man, who was later identified Craig Howell, 32, of Bedminster Township, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle, police said.

Howell failed field sobriety tests and was then arrested. He was issued motor vehicle summons for driving while intoxicated, consent to take samples of breath, and refusal to submit to chemical test, police said.
