Man gets probation for heroin possession in Sussex County

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Pennsylvania man was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to possession of heroin, according to Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch

Michael J. Morgan, 25, of Beach Lake was sentenced before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Virtual Sussex County Courtroom in Newton on December 2, Koch said.

Morgan was sentenced to two years probation, along with the standard conditions of probation, he must undergo a Substance Abuse Evaluation at the discretion of probation and follow all recommendations, submit a DNA sample, and pay $1205.00 in fines and fees, Koch said.

Morgan pled guilty on October 12 to third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, Koch said.

Morgan was found to be in possession of heroin at the time of a motor vehicle stop, Koch said.

Morgan was represented by Bruce C. Farrier, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Sally Anne Monkemeier.
