Man gets probation for theft charge in Sussex County

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A New York man gets probation for a theft charge, according to Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch.

Daniel Cicalese, 56, of Sparrowbush was sentenced on June 24 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Virtual Sussex County Courtroom in Newton, Koch said.

Cicalese was sentenced to two years non-custodial probation. In addition to the standard conditions of probation, he must also complete 25 hours of community service, submit a DNA sample, and pay $443.00 in fines and fees, Koch said.

Cicalese pled guilty on May 10 to fourth-degree theft, Koch said.

According to Koch, Cicalese admitted to taking property of another in Wantage Township on November 19, 2021. The case was investigated by Tpr. A. Pall of the New Jersey State Police.

Cicalese was represented by Matthew Young, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
