
Man pleads guilty to burglary-related charges in Sussex County
NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Passaic County man has entered a guilty plea to burglary-related charges, according to Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch.
Jose Lopez Nieves, 20, of Paterson, pled guilty to three counts of third-degree burglary, three counts of third-degree theft, and one count of third-degree criminal mischief before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on Dec. 1, Koch said.
In pleading guilty, Nieves admitted that on Sept. 7, 2020 he and two other co-defendants entered the Cycle Exchange in Andover Borough which they were not licensed or privileged to enter by breaking through a glass door and purposely took two motorcycles worth approximately $13,999.00 that were displayed for sale with the intent to permanently deprive Cycle Exchange of said motorcycles, ,Koch said.
Nieves further admitted that on Oct. 17, 2019, he and two other co-defendants again entered the Cycle Exchange in Andover Borough which they were not licensed or privileged to enter by breaking through a glass door and purposely took an Oset dirt bike worth approximately $2,499.00 that was displayed for sale with the intent to permanently deprive Cycle Exchange of said dirt bike, Koch said.
Nieves finally admitted that on Oct. 29, 2019, he and three other co-defendants traveled to Motorcycle Madness in Lafayette Township and attempted to enter by breaking a glass window with the intent to take items from the store with the intent to permanently deprive Motorcycle Madness of those items, Koch said.
Nieves is scheduled to be sentenced on January 14, 2021.
