Man pleads guilty to eluding police in Sussex County

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A New York man pleaded guilty to eluding police in Sparta Township, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart.

Abdullo Karimov, 25, of Brooklyn pleaded guilty to third-degree eluding, reckless driving, no insurance on May 22 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Taggart said.

In pleading guilty, Karimov admitted that on June 16, 2021 in Sparta Township, while operating a motorcycle, did knowingly attempt to elude the Sparta Township police after having received a signal to stop. He also admitted that at the time of eluding he was driving recklessly and had no insurance for the motorcycle, Taggart said.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 13.

Karimov was represented by Igor Niman, Esq., and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
