Man pleads guilty to fentanyl possession in Sussex County

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A New York man has entered a guilty plea to possession of fentanyl, according to Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch.

George Handelong, 43, of Port Jervis pled guilty to third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on April 14, Koch said.

In pleading guilty, Handelong admitted to being in possession of fentanyl in Franklin on October 15, 2020, Koch said.

Handelong is scheduled to be sentenced on May 20, 2021, Koch said.

The case was investigated by Ptlm. Della Fera and Ptlm. MacQuesten of the Franklin Borough Police Department.

Handelong was represented by William Oake, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
