Man pleads guilty to theft charge in Sussex County

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Texas man has entered a guilty plea to a theft charge, according to Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch.

Eric Bailey, 45, (d/b/a Green Associates and Green Associates Group, Inc.) pled guilty to an indictment of fourth-degree theft by deception before the Honorable Louis S. Sceusi, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on June 7, Koch said.

In pleading guilty, Bailey admitted to obtaining property and/or services from eight Sussex County businesses and individuals between June 2007 and December 2007 by creating the false impression that checks drawn on his accounts were negotiable, Koch said.

Bailey is scheduled to be sentenced on November 5, Koch said.

Two of the cases were investigated by Tpr. Verheeck of the New Jersey State Police and Sgt. Philhower of the Newton Police Department.

Bailey was represented by Nicole Rizzolo, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
