Man sentenced on failure to make lawful disposition, theft, bail jumping, contempt charges in Sussex County
NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Passaic County man sentenced on failure to make lawful disposition, theft, bail jumping, and contempt charges, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray.
Rimon Dibi, 59, of Wayne Township was sentenced on Jan. 19 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Murray said.
Dibi was sentenced to 5 years probation and in addition to the standard terms of probation, he must also pay restitution and fines and fees. Dibi also served 139 days in the Morris County Correctional Facility, Murray said.
Dibi pled guilty on Nov. 15, 2023 to third-degree failure to make lawful disposition, third-degree theft by deception, third-degree credit card theft, third-degree bail jumping, and fourth-degree contempt, Murray said.
In pleading guilty, Dibi admitted to purposely obtaining or retaining property belonging to various victims in an amount greater than $75,000. He did obtain the property by creating or reinforcing the false impression that he would provide services or equipment. He also admitted to using the credit card of a victim to fraudulently obtain money and did not appear in court, Murray said.
At sentencing, Dibi was represented by Joie D. Piderit, Esq., and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
