Man sentenced to state prison for sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child charges in Sussex County

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A 68-year-old New York was sentenced to state prison for sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child charges, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart.

Russell G. Wilson of Hampton Bays was sentenced on October 28 to 25 years in New Jersey State Prison, Megan’s Law Registration and parole supervision for life. He was given 220 days jail credit, Taggart said.

After a jury trial occurring over an approximate two week period, presided over by the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C., Wilson was convicted of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

The case was investigated by members of the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Sparta Township Police Department.

Wilson was represented by Mark H. Ranges, Esq., and the State was represented by Special District Attorney General/ Acting Assistant Prosecutor Laura L. Nazzaro.
