HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Monmouth County man has been arrested a JFK Airport after Hackettstown police say he was wanted for aggravated sexual assault.
According to police, on January 30, 2021 the Hackettstown Detective Bureau began an investigation into a reported sexual assault that occurred at a residence in Hackettstown, police said.
Through a police investigation it was determined that between September of 2018 through July 2019, the adult female victim resided at the residence with Andres M. Cardenas Ortega, 32, of Middletown, NJ, police said.
The victim found several videos on a digital device and a google account that allegedly showed her being sexually assaulted by Ortega. She had not consented to these sexual acts and did not know this happened before seeing the videos. The victim also did not provide her consent for any sexual acts to be recorded, police said.
Ortega was scheduled to come to Hackettstown police headquarters to be charged on Wednesday, June 16 but he never showed up and subsequent phone calls to him went unanswered. He was then entered into the National Crime Information Center as a wanted person, police said.
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police located and arrested Ortega in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 17 at John F. Kennedy International Airport, police said.
Ortega has been charged with four counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, two counts of third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact, and one count of third-degree invasion of privacy. Oretga is being held in New York City awaiting extradition to Warren County, police said.
