MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Mansfield Township man has been arrested on charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child in Mansfield Township, according to Warren County Prosecutor James Pfeiffer.
The complaint alleges that Cristino S. Delrio, 73, of the Port Murray section of the township committed multiple acts of sexual penetration as well as sexual contact upon a child under 13 years of age. The acts occurred between 2016-2019 in Mansfield Township, Pfeiffer said.
“The child in question was known to Delrio,” Pfeiffer said.
Delrio was arrested Monday, May 10 and charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault [victim under 13 years old]; two counts of second-degree sexual assault [by sexual contact and victim under 13 years old]; and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child [sexual conduct], Pfeiffer said.
Delrio’s first appearance took place on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, before the Honorable Maureen Vella, J.M.C. and the State filed a Motion to Detain him pretrial. That hearing is scheduled to take place on May 14, 2021, Pfeiffer said.
The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit along with the Mansfield Township Police Department conducted the investigation.
The first-degree crime is punishable by up to twenty years in New Jersey State Prison, and the second-degree crimes are punishable by up to ten years New Jersey State Prison.
