BLAIRSTOWN TOWNSHIP (Warren County) A Blairstown woman who had been missing since Dec. 14 was found dead Sunday in a heavily wooded area, according to Blairstown Township Police.
Blairstown Police Chief, Scott Johnsen, told RNJ that the body of Mary Margaret Murphy, 54, was found Sunday afternoon by a K-9 working with a New Jersey Search and Rescue squad. Johnsen declined to say exactly where Murphy’s body was discovered, pending an ongoing investigation.
The cause of death has not yet been released as the Warren County Medical Examiner has yet to release a report.
Murphy was last seen on Dec. 14 at around 10:00 a.m. at the Easter Seals, located at 3 Beechwood Lane, where she was a client.
In a social media post, the Blairstown Police Department expressed their condolences to Murphy’s family and friends. They thanked “everyone that assisted to bring closure to the family.”
Assisting in the search and rescue effort were the Blairstown Ambulance Corps, Blairstown Hose Company #1, Blairstown Office of Emergency Management, New Jersey State Police North Star (Helicopter), New Jersey Search and Rescue, Warren County Office of Public Safety, Blairstown CERT, and the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
