Morris County man accused of sexually assaulting a minor

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man has been charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor in Hanover Township, police said in a news release Wednesday.

Melquiades Porfirio, 36, of East Hanover Township was arrested on September 9 following an in-depth investigation into a report of sexual assault of a minor, police said.

Porfirio was charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a victim between 13 and 16-years-old, three counts of third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Porfirio was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance, police said.
