LINCOLN PARK BOROUGH, NJ (Morris county) – A Morris County man is facing several charges after allegedly leading Lincoln Park police on a chase Friday night.
On May 1, at around 10:30 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a report of a motorcycle being operated in an erratic manner in the area of Valley Road. After locating a motorcycle fitting the description on Pinebrook Road and observing it failing to stop at a stop sign, the officer attempted to stop the motorcycle, police said.
Upon signaling the motorcycle to stop, the driver, who was later identified as Elliot Montalvo, 28, of Towaco, accelerated away from the officer and a pursuit was initiated. The chase went through Lincoln Park, Montville Township, then back into Lincoln Park before eventually ending in Wayne Township, after the driver lost control of the motorcycle, police said.
Upon taking Montalvo into custody, he exhibited signs of intoxication. He was subsequently transported to Chilton Medical Center where he was evaluated and treated for minor injuries, before being discharged and transported to the Lincoln Park Police Department for arrest processing, police said.
Montalvo was charged with eluding police and driving while intoxicated as well as being issued summonses in Lincoln Park, Montville and Wayne Township for numerous motor vehicle offenses committed in those jurisdictions during the pursuit.
Montalvo was later released to a responsible person pending court appearance.
