Morris County man ejected, killed in single-vehicle crash on I-287 in Mahwah Township

MAHWAH TOWNSHIP, NJ (Bergen County) –  A single-vehicle crash along Interstate 287 in Mahwah Township claimed the life of 29-year-old Morris County man on Saturday afternoon, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Philip Curry.

The crash occurred at 12:45 p.m. on Interstate 287 northbound at milepost 62.8, Curry said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Jeep Wrangler, driven by Vincent Infinito of Chester, was traveling north on Interstate 287 when the Jeep traveled off the right side of the roadway, down an embankment, struck a tree, rotated counter clockwise, and he was then ejected, Curry said.

As a result of this crash, Infinito suffered fatal injuries, Curry said.

The northbound right lane was closed for approximately 4 hours and the left lane was closed intermittently throughout the investigation resulting in major traffic congestion, Curry said.

The crash remains under investigation, Curry said.
