Morris County man facing sexual assault charges

FLORHAM PARK BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man has been jailed after being charged with sexually assaulting a female in Florham Park Borough, according to police.

In the early morning hours of February 28, police responded to a residence in which a female resident was alleging to be the victim of a sexual assault that just occurred, police said.

A Florham Park police detective conducted the investigation and identified the suspect as 23-year-old Kareem Askew, who goes by the nickname “Zion”, of Lincoln Park Borough and was an acquaintance of the victim, police said.

After criminal charges were reviewed and approved by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes Unit, Askew surrendered to the Florham Park police on the evening of March 23 where he was formally arrested and processed.

Askew was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of false imprisonment, and one count of simple assault. He was then lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing, police said.
