Morris County Sheriff James Gannon sworn in for third term
MORRISTOWN, NJ (Morris County) – Sheriff James M. Gannon, who created Hope One, RSVP-3 and other progressive programs during his tenure, officially began his third term as Morris County Sheriff.
Sworn in at the stated annual meeting of the Morris County Board of Commissioners in Morristown on Friday, Sheriff Gannon is the 77th Sheriff of Morris County.
Gannon was initially sworn in on January 2, 2017, to his first three-year term and is in command of the Bureaus of Law Enforcement and Corrections.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Office has been serving the people of Morris County for 284 years. Traditional duties include protecting Judges, litigants, and the People of this great county. This work carries on today much as it has since the inception of the Office.
“We act as Guardians (Hope One, Marine Patrol, Family Justice Center) and Warriors (SERT, Narcotics, FBI JTTF), all the while looking to resolve all matters peacefully,” Gannon said.
The Sheriff stated the Office is continuing a focused quality assessment throughout the entire agency by way of a newly formed Inspectional Services Division. He added the Office always operates in a manner which protects valuable revenue streams and scrutinizes spending, as this is a cornerstone responsibility of the Sheriff.
Sheriff Gannon mentioned the fantastic work completed by the Sheriff’s Office through solid partnerships and closed by thanking all for entrusting him to be the Morris County Sheriff.
