Morris County Sheriff’s Office warns of phone scam

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ – The Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Protective Services Division has recently received multiple notifications from members of the public who have been targets of a phone scam.

According to the sheriff’s office, the phone calls are from an individual claiming there is need to contact a person with an official title, such as a Lieutenant or Captain at the Morris County Sheriff’s Office. The calls often claim to be of an urgent matter needing immediate attention.

Neither these individuals, nor the associated phone number are affiliated with the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, the department said.

The sheriff’s office said never provide sensitive personal information, money, or access to your assets to any unknown individual.
