Morris County ShopRite employee charged with stealing from register

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – An employee at the Hanover Township ShopRite has been accused of stealing money from his register, police said Tuesday.

On February 16, police responded to the Shoprite on Hanover Avenue for an employee caught stealing and was being detained by loss prevention, police said.

Upon arrival, an officer spoke with loss prevention who stated that Pedro Sandoval-Ayala, 22, of Morristown was caught stealing money from his cash register while he was working, police said.

The total amount stolen over that last few months was approximately $1,000, police said.

Sandoval-AyalaHe had active warrants totaling $500, police said.

Sandoval-AyalaHe was arrested and and charged with theft by unlawful taking. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
