Mother jailed on child neglect, drug charges after 2 children found wandering inside Mansfield Township hotel
MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A woman was jailed last month after police say she left her two children unattended inside a Mansfield Township hotel, and the children wandered through the hall looking for their mother.
On September 1, at 6:28 a.m., police responded to the Quality Inn for a welfare check on two small children. When officers arrived, they were directed to two small children who had been wandering the hall looking for their mother, police said Monday.
When officers entered the hotel room, they found uncapped hypodermic needles on the floor of the bathroom and on the sink. Officers contacted child services to take custody of the children, police said.
The mother arrived while the officers were still on location and had additional uncapped hypodermic needles and controlled dangerous substances in her purse, police said.
While the investigation continued, a warrant was issued for the 37-year-old Washington woman’s arrest, police said.
On November 30, she was arrested on the outstanding warrant for two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of hypodermic needles and child neglect. She was then lodged in the Warren County Jail pending a court appearance, police said.
