Motorcyclist seriously injured after Sussex County crash

LAFAYETTE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries Tuesday afternoon after a crash in Lafayette Township, according to New Jersey Sate Police Trooper Charles Marchan. 

The crash happened at 1:27 p.m. on Route 15 southbound at mile marker 18.1, Marchan said.

According to Marchan, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Flavian M. Simonelli, 58, from Wayne, was traveling southbound on Route 15 and a BMW SUV, driven by Ida T Peccia, 48, from Lafayette, was traveling  westbound on Ice Plant Road.

The SUV was crossing Route 15 onto Mudcut Road when the motorcycle struck the SUV. The motorcycle then overturned ejecting Simonelli, Marchan said.

Simonelli suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
