Mount Olive hair salon supervisor accused of sexually assaulting 16-year-old worker
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 42-year-old supervisor at a salon has been arrested and charged with the sexually assaulting a 16-year-old worker, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.
Joseph Guzman, 42, of Mount Olive Township was arrested on Nov. 23 and charged with second-degree sexual assault of a victim who was at least 16-years-old but less than 18-years-old, where the defendant had supervisory power over the victim, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and four counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.
It is alleged that on August 10, Guzman allegedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old female victim at Joseph Vincent’s Salon in Mount Olive Township. He was the victim’s employer and supervisor at the salon, Carroll said.
Following a detention hearing on November 28, Guzman was released from custody under pre-trial monitoring, including no unsupervised contact with minors, Carroll said.
“Joseph is a well respected member of the community and a successful business owner for over 20 years. He maintains his innocence as to the allegations and looks forward to defending himself in a court of law,” Anthony J. Iacullo, who is Guzman’s attorney, told RNJ.
