Naked intruder groped woman in shower in Somerset County

HILLSBOROUGH TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) Authorities in Somerset County are searching for a man who broke into a woman’s home and groped her while she was showering, according to Somerset County Acting Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart.

On Thursday, April 14, at around 10:18 p.m., police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a sexual offense that occurred in the area of Andria Avenue. Upon arrival, officers met with an adult female of Hillsborough Township who reported being groped by an unknown male while taking a shower in her residence in the area of Andria Avenue, Taggart said.

The victim reported to detectives that while showering, an unknown male entered the shower naked and grabbed her from behind. The victim was able to fight off the man, who fled the bathroom exiting the residence possibly through a screen door. The victim was not injured in this incident, Taggart said.

The victim described the suspect as a Caucasian male, approximately 18 to 24 years old, with a thin build, short dark colored hair, no facial or body hair, Taggart said.

“Subsequently the victim was able to provide a composite sketch to the New Jersey State Police Forensic Imaging Unit of the alleged actor. The composite sketch is being released by investigators in hopes of obtaining leads to this incident. The public is urged to contact authorities if the suspect is known to them and do not approach or attempt to apprehend,” Taggart said.
