New Jersey crab’s name hangs in the balance of big football game winner

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Many things will be on the line during the big football game on Sunday, Feb. 11 and now there is one more thing to add to the list – the name of SEA LIFE New Jersey’s Spider Crab.

The crab will either be named Brock, after Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers or Patrick after Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The crustacean has become famous for predicting Jets and Giants games on SEA LIFE’s Instagram page, every Sunday, and now will be named after the Super Bowl winner’s quarterback.

This ten-legged creature can be seen surrounded by Domino Damsels, Pajama Cardinals, and Harlequin Tusk Fish. A New Jersey native, our spider crab was ‘drafted’ from Shark River Inlet in Belmar.

The nine-spine spider crab is about 2-years-old.
