New Jersey’s fall trout stocking begins Oct. 11

NEW JERSEY – Starting October 11, two-year old trout averaging about 14″ – 16″ in length, along with some three-year old broodstock will be stocked in several rivers, ponds, streams and lakes throughout New Jersey, according to the state Division of Fish and Wildlife.

During the 2022 fall trout stocking season, New Jersey Fish and Wildlife will put approximately 20,000 trout in the state’s major trout waters.

The fish are stocked from the Pequest Trout Hatchery beginning October 11 and stocking concludes October 19. All fall-stocked waters may be fished as soon as they are stocked, officials said.

Waterbodies that will be stocked this fall are:

  • Black River (10/11)
  • Colonial Lake (10/19)
  • Crystal Lake (10/18)
  • Giampietro Park Pond (10/18)
  • Greenwich Lake (10/19)
  • Grenloch Lake (10/18)
  • Hammonton Lake (10/18)
  • Iona Lake (10/19)
  • Lower Echo Park Pond (10/18)
  • Manasquan River (10/11)
  • Mary Elmer Lake (10/18)
  • Maurice River (10/18)
  • Metedeconk River N/B (10/11)
  • Metedeconk River S/B (10/11)
  • Musconetcong River (10/12)
  • North Hudson Park Lake (10/19)
  • Oak Pond (10/18)
  • Paulins Kill (10/11)
  • Pequest River (10/12)
  • Pohatcong Creek (10/13)
  • Ramapo River (10/14)
  • Raritan River N/B (10/11)
