New record sheepshead caught while spearfishing off New Jersey coast

NEW JERSEY – Dan Street of Hainesport, NJ made his way to the top of the state spearfishing record fish list by landing a new state record Sheepshead on July 15, while free diving in the Atlantic Ocean, according to the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife.

The fish weighed 13 pounds, 3 ounces, beating the old record by 11 ounces.

It measured 26 inches in length and had a girth of 23 7/8 inches.
