
Newton man arrested in Hunterdon County homicide
UPDATE: Acting Hunterdon County Prosecutor announces charges against suspect in homicide
DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Newton man has been arrested in connection with a homicide investigation in Delaware Township, Hunterdon County Acting Prosecutor Michael J. Williams said.
According to Williams, on December 6, 2020, at around 9:13 p.m., officers responded to an emergency call within the Township. Upon arrival, they discovered that the victim’s friends had transported her to a local hospital in Mercer County where she succumbed to her injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Brandon Petersen, 31, of Newton was arrested in Pennsylvania, Williams said.
“The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available,” Williams said.
“At no point during this incident was there any threat to the public. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the victim,” Williams said.
