NJ State Police investigating stabbing death in Sussex County

WANTAGE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – New Jersey State Police are investigating the stabbing death of a 46-year-old man at a Wantage Township home Thursday night, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Alejandro Goez said.

Troopers responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Lewisburg Road at 7:20 p.m., Goez said.

The 46-year-old Wantage man had an alleged altercation with a 59-year-old Wantage man and during the altercation he sustained a stab wound, Goez said.

The man was transported to Newton Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, Goez said.

“This was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public,” Goez said.

No charges have been filed at this point against the 59-year-old man and the incident remains under investigation, Goez. said.
