No injuries after tractor-trailer hits Grand Avenue underpass in Hackettstown

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A truck driver was not injured after his tractor-trailer hit the Grand Ave underpass in Hackettstown last week.

On Feb. 3, at around 8:09 a.m., police responded to Grand Avenue for a report of a tractor-trailer that struck the underpass, police said.

It was determined that Walter Jones, 58, of Florence, SC was travelling south on Grand Ave when he struck the underpass. Jones told police he thought the height sign of the underpass read 19’-8”but the signs read 10’-8”, police said.

No injuries were reported. Grand Ave was closed between College View Drive and Allen Road for approximately 1 hour, police said.

Assisting at the scene were the New Jersey State Police and Mansfield Township Police.
