No injuries reported in Hunterdon County house fire
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – No one was injured in a Tuesday morning house fire in Raritan Township, according to a post on the Raritan Township Fire Company’s Facebook page.
The fire was reported shortly after 1:00 a.m. at a residence Beehive Lane. The initial reports were smoke and fire in the basement, the post said.
Police arrived on scene and confirmed a fire in the basement with all residents evacuated. Fire chief arrived on scene and confirmed smoke showing from the front of the structure, authorities said.
Fire crews arrived soon after and began fire attack. The crew made an initial push into the basement to find zero visibility conditions with fire in the drop-ceiling as well as along the wall of the basement. A second crew made its way to the rear of the structure through the walk-out basement door, the post said.
Crews were able to make a quick and effective knock on the fire with little extension to the rest of the basement and structure. Crews were soon called in to pull ceiling to check for extension as well as ventilate the building, authorities said.
This cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Raritan Township Fire Marshals Office, the post said.
