NY man accused of kicking cars on Route 22 in Lopatcong Twp.

LOPATCONG TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A New York man was charged Friday night after he allegedly ran into traffic on Route 22 in Lopatcong Township and kicked cars.

On Oct. 4, at around 7:31 p.m., officers responded to Route 22 near the Speedway Gas Station for a man running into traffic and kicking cars, police said.

Upon officer’s arrival, the man was located and was identified as Darien Herrera, 29, of Brooklyn, NY, police said.

Witnesses on scene stated to police that Herrera was kicking vehicles as they passed by on Route 22, and even ran on top of a vehicle causing damage to the hood, police said.

Herrera was taken into custody and when officers attempted to secure him in the patrol vehicle he allegedly began screaming and flailing his arms, police said.

Herrera was charged with obstruction of justice and criminal mischief. He was released pending a court appearance.
