Officer, bystanders rescue cat from telephone pole in Sparta Township

SPARTA TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A cat ended up on top of a telephone pole in Sparta Township, prompting a rescue operation Thursday afternoon.

Sparta Township Police Corporal Rick Smith with the assistance from a few fellow residents were able to safely rescue a cat that was stuck atop of a telephone pole on East Shore Trail.

It’s unclear who owned the cat or how long the cat was up there.
