Ohio man charged with sexually assaulting child in Warren County

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – An Ohio man has been charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a child in Warren County, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

Michael Eaton, 44, Zanesville, OH was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

It is alleged that on two occasions between 2019 and 2021, Eaton, sexually assaulted a child in Franklin Township, authorities said.

Eaton allegedly engaged the victim in acts of sexual penetration and contact while the victim was between the ages of 5 and 6-years-old. At the time of the sexual assaults, he had a legal duty of care for the victim, the prosecutor’s office said.

Eaton is currently lodged in the Zanesville County Jail in Ohio pending extradition to New Jersey.

The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit, the New Jersey State Police Washington Station, the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit, the United States Marshal Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force-Newark Office and the United States Marshal Service Southern Ohio Fugitive assisted in the investigation.
